Jackie Walorski automotive crash: Tributes stream for Indiana Republican killed in head-on collision

News in regards to the loss of life of Rep. Jackie Walorski (R-IN), who was killed in a automotive crash Wednesday together with two aides, Zachery Potts and Emma Thomson, drew a bipartisan outpouring of grief and respect.

The Elkhart County Sheriff’s workplace confirmed the deaths. Walorski was first elected to Congress in 2012. She was 58.


Home Minority Chief Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) introduced Walorski’s loss of life in a tweet, sharing a press release from her workplace. Home Minority Whip Steve Scalise (R-LA) wrote that he was devastated by the information.

Home Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) ordered the flags on the Capitol flown at half-staff to honor Walorski.

Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) expressed his condolences to the households of Walorski and her aides, singling out Thomson, who labored on his 2016 presidential marketing campaign.

Former Vice President Mike Pence, who’s a local of Indiana, and Republican Nationwide Committee Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel provided their condolences.

Walorski’s fellow Indiana Republican, Rep. Jim Banks, known as her “one of many biggest public servants I’ve ever recognized.”
