Mandy Patinkin shares emotional ‘Princess Bride’ backstory

The actor shared a shifting backstory about his position within the cult traditional movie “The Princess Bride” on his official TikTok account in response to a person sharing her personal.

Amanda Webb posted a video during which she shared that the film was a favourite of hers and of her late father, who died in March from most cancers.

One scene specifically, the one during which Patinkin as Iñigo Montoya duels with Christopher Visitor’s character Rely Rugen and says to him, “I would like my father again.”

Webb mentioned she’d heard a rumor that Patinkin was fascinated by his father, whom he misplaced to most cancers, when he filmed that scene and questioned if that was true.

Patinkin posted a video of him and his spouse Kathryn Grody watching Webb’s video and he tearfully confirmed the story was true.

“I went outdoors on this fortress and walked round,” the actor mentioned. “And I saved speaking to my dad and I mentioned, ‘Dad, I will get this man.'”

Patinkin mentioned that from the time he learn the script that he knew he would method the scene that approach as a result of he felt that in defeating the character it “means I kill the most cancers that killed my dad and I will get to go to my dad.”

“And I went and I performed that scene with Chris,” he mentioned. “Then I went again on the market and talked to my dad.”

The star advised Webb she too may discuss to her dad and requested that if she may, to please get the title of her father to him so he may add it to the listing of these individuals he prays for each day.
